A stated bequest of Michael Dunn (1942-2007) in his will, was that the greater part of the land he owned on either side of Boundary Point on Lake Memphremagog “be held for conservation, public use and recreation”. It took some time to iron out who would be the legal owner of these lands but by 2010 the property on the Vermont side became known as the Eagle Point Wildlife Management Area (approximately 168 hectares) with legal title belonging to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and on the Quebec side (approximately 117 hectares) the land was to held by the Province and managed by the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’environment et de la lutte contre les changements climatiques. The Quebec portion is known as the Michael Dunn Biodiversity Reserve.
